The Team

Kevin Mooney – Assistant Trainer

A successful jump jockey, probafbly best known for his thrilling win on Special Cargo in the Whitbread Gold Cup for the Queen Mother in 1984, Kevin is an invaluable member of the team. He is responsible for the hands on day to day running of the yard and is the main communication link between Charles and the rest of his staff.

Debbie Bracewell – Racing Secretary

Debbie (right) has worked for Charles (and Barry before him) for 17 years. Following the birth of Ben in December 2009 she has returned to work part time. There have been many highlights over the years for Debbie but two that stand out are a treble at York in 1995 when Royal Applause, Sanmartino and Mubhij all scored by narrow margins, and Ghanaati's outstanding wins this year. Further Flight is Debbie's favourite horse due to his bravery and incredible longevity.

Stephanie Potter – Racing Secretary

Stephanie Potter Steph has worked for Charles (and Barry before him) for 4 years. Like Debbie Ghanaati's wins have been a major highlight for Steph, as are the efforts of Tastahil who is her favourite horse in the yard at the moment.

Rose Osborn – Assistant Racing Secretary

Rose Osborn Rose has recently started work as Assistant Racing Secretary at Faringdon Place. Before joining the team here she was with the Point To Point Authority for two and a half years. An accomplished horsewoman she has recently been riding out for Peter Mason and Nell Buckler who both train point to pointers. While at university Rose rode out for Henrietta Knight.

Myra Baker – Book Keeper

Myra (second left) has worked for Charles (and Barry before him) for 9 years. Myra occasionally rides out and always enjoys the annual girls trip to Royal Ascot.

Geoff Snook, Ian ‘Scan’ Wilder, John Burrows – Travelling Head Lads

As the team responsible for getting the horses to and from the races safely the vastly experienced trio of Geoff (middle), Scan (left) and John (right) are all familiar faces with the owners and on the racecourse.

Shaun Johnson and Richard Spencer – Pupil Assistants

Shaun (left) and Richard (right) are Charles’s two current Pupil Assistants. Both are excellent horsemen and have ridden over fences under rules. They provide important back up to Kevin.

Profile of the Month

Bob Grace

Big Bob, as he is known in the yard, is now in his 24th season with Barry. He is famous for looking after greys, especially those owned by Catherine Corbett. Of all the good horses he has looked after over the years he counts Negligent as the best. At the moment Bob looks after Damien (pictured with him) and an unraced two year old colt by Galileo called Pure Science. Before working for Barry Bob was with Michael Dickinson.

Outside of racing Bob is fanatical about cricket and football. He enjoys foreign travel and loves Thai food. One of his sayings is 'no matter how bad the day has been, I won't get through it without something making me laugh'. It's a good way of looking at life!
